Fallen Wings BESM Edition
Mana in the world of Sera is the lifeblood of just about everything that exists, everything has it from the gods themselves to the lowliest of creatures, even the plants and all creeping things on the planet, without mana you do not exist. Now how this impacts characters is quite important. Everyone has mana and as a result has a “Mana Count” this is quite basically a number of times you can use mana before you body crumbles to dust, you will still exist as a spirit and have a degree of mana that holds you together, but you will have a mana count of 0 and be unable to use mana. Now the question your asking yourselves as characters is what is my Mana Count, and to be honest that is hard to answer. It will depend on your GM what the mana count should be and you should ask how you consume your mana count. Typically any time magic is used that consumes mana, anytime you would use energy points to power an ability you are using consumes mana. Check with the GM what your mana count is and what attributes and abilities you have that consume mana and therefore your mana count. Every time you do use mana you will normally lose just 1 from the mana count, unless it is a very powerful move and therefore uses a lot of mana the GM might decide that it may consume more than one use but that’s for the GM to decide.
As a guide normal people generally only have a couple of hundred times they can use mana.
For player characters this should be much more, a typical magically gifted teenager in a dedicated magic school would have 8,000-10,000 as there Mana Count. Even if you go to the exceptionally gifted mana users who come from powerful families can have as much as 140,000-200,000 as there Mana Count. So you can see it is difficult to determine what your Mana Count should be that’s why it will be up to you GM what the final count should be.
